Liliana Vess heeft met wat onderhandelen van Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker een Demonic Pact gesloten met vier Demons: Kothophed, Soul Hoarder, Griselbrand, Razaketh, the Foulblooded en Demonlord Belzenlok. Ze blijft jong, krijgt krachten, maar verliest haar ziel en moet de demonen helpen. Maar Liliana houdt niet zo van afspraken, en maakt een plan de vier demonen af te maken om onder Liliana's Contract uit te komen. Met behulp van The Chain Veil heeft ze Kothoped gedood.
